If you could go back in time, what would you have done differently before starting to work remotely? And, what would you tell someone who is just starting out with remote work?
If I could go back in time, I’d remind myself to be strict about the separation between work time and non-work time. I would reccomend that to anyone starting out working remotely. Now, I have to keep in mind that not everyone can just do that without risking their jobs. Still, it’s worth saying out loud just in case someone is in a work situation where overworking is something they can safely control.
Yes! I totally agree @m.abdihakim. Even after 7 years of working remotely I find that’s still a challenge I have to actively try to work on. It’s especially difficult when I try to take time off. I find that I want to disconnect but have a hard time doing so without feeling like I have so much to catch up on.
